If some of you haven't heard, Hasbro had made the decision of removing all pony content by critically famous pony animator JanAnimations with a C&D.

To be honest, I'm not with Hasbro's decision either, but...

Well, I know it was a dumbass move, since no harm can come from JanAnimations's SFW cartoons. On the other hand:

1. Jan's videos were monetized, which means he makes SOME money off of it. Which is technically against the law when you're using copyrighted material. Although, every other fan artist does that so this isn't a big reason.

2. His style was TOO close to the show. Enough to be considered stealing Hasbro's content in character design and animation. And even though he did work with a member from the show, John De Lancie, it still doesn't count as being affiliated with Hasbro.

3. Too much word was coming out about Button Mash and his animated adventures. This same situation would apply to Fighting is Magic, a game that was so heavily advertised to catch Hasbro's attention that they'd also pull the same move. Course, that was Mane 6's fault, and Jan's advertisement came completely from the fans. Still.

You guys have to understand. No good can come out of boycotting or complaining. It's just like yelling your head off at a wall. Clearly Hasbro doesn't give two shits what we do to them negatively, because the fact remains, My Little Pony is still not in our age group, and they've given us the show we all love anyways. They were okay without us before. It sucks they have to be so strict, but if they weren't, then they'd probably wouldn't be as successful as they are now.

Don't get me wrong. I'm pissed as shit that they took someone as talented as Jan down, which also makes me wonder why just him and not a plethora of other artists. Unfortunately, I can also see their reasons. We've crossed the line with Hasbro too many times in the past and they would let it slide. If I were to be in their position, understanding the laws and terms of use when it comes to copyright, and as an official who is just trying to do his job, I would have done the same thing.

So, yeah. Mad at Hasbro, but understand their decision.
